AMQUA's Denise Gaudreau Award
The Denise Gaudreau Award for Excellence in Quaternary Studies was initiated in Fall
1993 in recognition of Denise's dedication, accomplishments, and promise as an aspiring
Quaternary scientist. The $500 award supports the early career development of women
scientists in Quaternary studies. Female scientists in any field of Quaternary studies
within two years prior to completing a Ph.D. are encouraged to apply. Membership in AMQUA
and U.S. citizenship are not required. Selection will be based on scientific
accomplishments, promise, and demonstration of original thinking. Emphasis will be placed
on the quality and carefulness of the work, rather than solely on quantity.
Applications are being accepted until February 15, 1998 for the 1998 award and should
include the following:
- Curriculum vitae (no page limit).
- Summary of research interests, accomplishments, and goals (not to exceed two pages).
- Copy of graduate transcripts (signed by the Advisor). Photocopies of transcripts will
suffice. For credits shown in transcripts under general titles only (such as independent
studies or seminars), briefly describe the subject(s) on a separate page.
- Name, address, and phone numbers of two referees.
Mail all materials with a cover letter to: Julie Brigham-Grette, AMQUA Secretary,
Department of Geosciences, Box 35820, University of Mass., Amherst, MA 01003-5820; 413-545
4840.
