North American Pollen Database
NAPD is a public database available from the World Data Center-A for Paleoclimatology
sponsored by the NOAA Paleoclimatology Program and housed at the National Geophysical Data
Center (NGDC) in Boulder, Colorado. The relational database as well as various ASCII and
spreadsheet files for individual sites are
available from the NGDC Web site: www.ngdc.noaa.gov/paleo/paleo.html [NOAA Paleoclimatology Program] http://www.ngdc.noaa.gov/paleo/

Quaternary Bibliography of Palaeoentomology
Coope, Buckland and Sadler) is now available online at: http://
www.umu.se/envarchlab/BUGS/QBIB/QBIBFRAM.HTM Presently it contains about 1500
references, and we would welcome additions. Download is available in zipped Word or ASCII
format.
Online Paper
"Palaeoenvironmental records of postglacial climate change in the Prairie
ecozone" by A.B. Beaudoin and others. In addition to text and maps, the paper also
gives access to a downloadable database of postglacial palaeoenvironmental sites in the
Prairie Provinces. http://www.cciw.ca/emantemp/reports/publications/nm97_paleo/intro.html
Paleovegetation Maps
A set of preliminary, broad-scale ecosystem map reconstructions is presented for the world
at the Last Glacial Maximum, the early Holocene, the mid Holocene, and for comparison
'present potential' maps. The maps were produced through consultation with an extensive
network of experts and a range of literature and map sources, with the final decision in
each case made by the editors. Accompanying each regional map is a general background text
detailing the principal sources of evidence and the major uncertainties within this. The
maps are a rough attempt at appraisal of current knowledge and opinion. Nevertheless, the
maps and the accompanying literature review should provide a valuable and readily
accessible source of information on current opinion in the Quaternary community. It is
also hoped that they will act as a forum for discussion on the distribution of
paleovegetation amongst those who are working in each region. http://www.esd.ornl.gov/projects/qen/nerc.html
